From the studio comes your first exclusive look at the Donnie Darko 2 poster along with an official synopsis! This next chapter of the Darko saga picks up with Samantha, Donnie’s younger sister, who, in the wake of his death, has found herself at 17 with a broken family, mired in feelings of insignificance, and with no aspirations for the future.
Now I still haven’t figured out if I want a sequel though I am morbidly curious about Daveigh Chase as the only thing I have seen her in is Big Love and she plays such an odd character there. This poster however gives me nothing to draw me in.
It looks so much like the original poster with the stylized bunny image in it. So does this make you want to see it at all?
Honestly this movie will probably be an epic failure. I agree with the previous user who stated a prequel about Grandma Death would have been much better.
I can’t wait to see this movie. Donnie Darko was amazing, & I think this will be just as good. I have faith that it won’t be just another typical “part 2”.
How can Frank even be in this?
He didn’t even fucking die in the end.
Just proves how much the new director knows about it.
the only way donnie could be in it is if it were like samantha having memories about him cuz idk if you remember but he did kinda die
Donnie Darko is one of my favorite movies. When I first heard they were making a new one, I was excited, but after reading all these negative things it makes me doubt it. I agree, it could be dumb especially because Donnie isn’t even in it, and it’s not the same characters, but seriously. Give it a chance. Don’t knock it before you try it.
all im reading where ever i go to find out more about this movie is bad things. i too was questioning the making of this but i think there is a chance this could be good. i mean when u watch the 1st movie you see how the whole family is impacted with donnies issues and they are all changed at the end after his death. why not make a movie that shows us how samantha(who in my mind was the one charater that the 1st movie didnt talk about much which allows us to ask was she normal was she like donnie? that is why i think this is good) was impacted. and i also agree with a earlier poster that the should too a prequel about grandma death. but seriouslly if u trully loved donnie darko you will give s. darko a chance
Samantha sees the ghost of Frank in a bunny suit who tells her that he is from the future and that this was a career-ending move to be in this loser movie.
I think the poster is cool looking. The idea of making a donnie darko sequel…not cool at all. why cant they just leave a good thing alone? oh wait, i forgot, its because of money.
truth is, i’ll still go see it just out of curiousity
It’s Frank’s ghost. I still don’t understand how Donnie’s Frank and the real life Frank are connected… was it all just a good guess/prediction? Daveigh’s character starts getting visions of the future is all I know about the movie and thar the original director didn’t want to make a sequel and so didn’t want anything to do with this movie
Hey Rodney, Just so you know, if you have seen the Ring, Deveigh Chase was the creepy little girl in that movie.
Absolutely no interest. I don’t understand what the people behind this film are thinking. It’s ridiculous.
What kind of tagline is that anyway?
“What would you do if you knew the future?”
What would you do if you couldn’t come up with a half decent tag? You’d make a half lame one!
IS THIS REAL???? IT DOESN’T EVEN LOOK REAL !
Yeah Mozzerino, Kelly has no rights to the Darko franchise anymore. I am sure if he has an opinion on this he can’t do anything about it.
However if he does come forward to cast his vote for or against this film it could make or break it. His first film was an instant cult following, and those are not the type of fans that would disregard his opinion on someone else taking over the story.
Solartaco? What is your point?
You come to a site that discusses movie news and criticize that we are discussing movie news?
If you do not want to discuss the topic in the post, please save your energy for those that do pique your interest. thanks!
You know what…I could send you a picture of the Star Wars movie poster and tell you it was the Donnie Darko or some other upcoming movie and I bet you’d you’d post it as news. Debating its pros and cons.
he sold the rights off.
I can’t believe they are actually going through with this.
What does Richard Kelly say to that project? Doesn’t he have the rights to this characters?
Why make a follow-up when one isn’t wanted or needed. This is a waste of their time making it and our time watching it.
Yeah, no, this poster/movie does NOTHING for me. At all.
Maybe if the original cast/director was involved, but nah.
I may see it just to see this trainwreck of a movie and say “I told you so” but other than that, I have virtually no interest in this thing. It’s just someone’s idea to put out crap that already has a fanbase because they think they can make a quick buck.
And who’s RETARDED idea was it to make the title “S. Darko”??? S????? WTF???
“I Find Hard To Believe In Your Commitment To Sparkle Motion!”
The poster doesn’t do much but I think it reflects the idea of the “legacy” that the character is carrying from the original movie. I also think it’s great that the original actress is returning to play the sister. Can’t wait to see it!!
At first, it’s nothing to get all itchy about. That isn’t even a teaser poster! All it is is a “mock up”. Second, it isn’t anything to get all itchy about- Frank was in Donnie Darko’s revelation. At least give Samantha a demonic duck. Second thought, skip that.
Give me a Darko sequel…but with Cherita Chen (Jolene Purdy) instead. (It’s because of the name..DD..CC) or a prequel with Roberta Sparrow /Grandma Death (who wrote the book “The Philosophy of Time Travel”) but what I find more oddball is that Seth Rogen (as Ricky Danforth) was in the first film. Maybe he’s too big now, I dunno. But…alright.
NO Katharine Ross as Dr. Lillian Thurman (someone needs a shrink!)
NO Mary McDonnell (blasphemy!)
NO Holmes Osborne (no parents!)
NO Swayze! (you don’t say!)
NO 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds.
YES to Vega$.
Oh dear.
Note: they better be smart at set it seven years later as they say. That means, of course, a film set in the early to mid 90’s.
Oh dear.
(They’re bringing back Frank? Or is it some other man in bunny costume? Whatever. Looks like crap.
I say let’s all just ignore this movie, OK? Nobody asked for it.
